Prologue
“Romance of the Three Kingdoms.”
It’s a famous story that everyone who knows it, knows well.
Liu Bei.
Cao Cao.
Sun Quan.
In my case, I first encountered it in comic book form at a library during my middle school days.
To me, who only read educational comics like ‘Surviving This and That’ or ‘What?’, it was a whole new world.
I read it with great interest, oblivious to time passing, from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the Battle of Ojangwon.
Even after finishing it, I would borrow it again whenever I had time and read it multiple times.
That’s probably when I started to like Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
I read various novels based on it and played games too.
But I didn’t delve into it professionally.
When I opened a book called “Records,” written by Luo Guanzhong, not the novel “Romance” but the actual historical records, I found myself getting sleepy. As the book was literally just historical records, I remember it being quite boring.
So, I was always just into Romance of the Three Kingdoms to the extent that I could enjoy it lightly and casually.
If I had known I would be born in such a place out of the blue, I wouldn’t have done that.
